Our story is a bit like a fairy tale. We literally met on stage when I was 19 and Len was 23. What followed was a lifetime of writing songs and playing music together. In our early years we wrote and performed our original music. We later became bandleaders for a successful wedding and corporate events band in the Metro NY area.
Alongside our music careers, Len developed his skills as a recording engineer and producer as well as a professional photographer, with a special interest in nature photography. Len also owns a Boston Whaler center console boat and enjoys fishing area rivers and in the deep and pristine waters of Golfo Dulce.
Vani developed a passion early on for yoga. She became a certified yoga and meditation instructor and taught in various studios for more than 20 years. Here in Costa Rica, Vani specializes in working with people individually, helping them to craft a yoga practice suited to their personal needs and goals.
After we arrived back home in New Jersey, we devoured all the information that we could find. We zeroed in on the Southern Zone as an ideal place to settle. We returned in 2006 determined to find our land and future homesite. We believe that we found the perfect property! The total property size is roughly 25 acres, which includes lots of primitive jungle. It’s a joy to overlook the pristine jungle and know that keeping it wild and undeveloped protects the animals and birds that call it home.
We built Casa Colibri in 2009, and began planting fruit trees and creating our gardens. Today, there are over 20 varieties of mature fruit trees on the property, as well as lush gardens and an organic vegetable garden that provides much of our fresh produce.
In 2024, we built our larger home, which includes a saltwater pool and hot tub. Casa Caracara was completed at the same time. The views from the guests houses and our own house are magnificent. We truly love to share the birds, beauty and tranquility with our guests.
As your hosts, we enjoy sharing information about the area’s many attractions, including waterfalls, hiking trails and miles of unspoiled Pacific beaches. In addition, we love hosting guests here and introducing them to the abundant beauty and nature that surrounds us. Whether you’re here to relax or explore, there is always something special to discover.
We want to ensure that your stay meets every expectation! To help with that, we have compiled a guidebook for the Southern Zone that shares information about restaurants, shopping, activities, emergency numbers, useful information, etc. Additionally, there is also an FAQ section on this website, that should answer most of your questions about travel to Costa Rica, as well as about Luxury in the Jungle.
Finally, something to note – Luxury in the Jungle is home to two very friendly resident dogs who roam the grounds and may stop by to say hello during your stay. Our guests give us consistently fabulous reviews, and Reina and Estrella are almost always mentioned as part of what our guests enjoy most.
Ride a horse to a waterfall, take a white-water rafting trip down the Savegre River, travel the back roads and trails via ATV, kayak down the coast or into the mangroves, cast a line and catch fish inshore or offshore, learn to fly on a trapeze with safety lines and net, zipline thru the jungle treetops, hike to a mountaintop, jump from the rocks into cool clear mountain streams, go whale watching, dance and practice yoga at nearby studios, capture photos of exotic tropical birds and flowers. The options are vast and varied!
